I had high hopes of being able to post something from Paul Simon’s new album, a collaboration with sexual deviant (bald men and high testosterone—the link has been proven) and über-producer brainiac Brian Eno, given all the whisperings and radio sightings that have been making the rounds over the past week, but for once, the Internet has failed to deliver any leak. But whatever. Over this past week, all true music fans celebrated Walpurg’s Night (hopefully with a late-night viewing of Wicker Man) and Current 93 released At Sunset Black Ships Ate the Night Sky, so though it’s spring, the mood’s a bit darker. The British-based 20jazzfunkgreats (http://20jazzfunkgreats.blogspot.com) have long been great boosters of many things Montreal, with features on Duchess Says, Dandi Wind, We Are Wolves and other black-clad bohemians (oh God, forgive me for that!), and they recently plopped up a track from Eno’s Begegnungen II collaboration with Krautrockers Moebius, Roedelius & Plank. Dose number two! OUCH OUCH OUCH, THAT’S DISGUSTING! goldkicks@gmail.com |
