BARS AND CLUBS
1234 1234 de le Montagne, 395-1111
The insatiable MC Mario and his taste for house music take over the main room of the supposedly “most glamorous venue in downtown Montreal,” while DJ Hill focuses on hip hop and R&B in a second room and DJ Majess goes old school in the third. It’s open bar from 9–11 p.m., so fuel up before midnight. $60/$70.
ABREUVOIR BAR ET TERRASSE 403 Ontario E., 843-5469
Are you more classic Vince Vega or brutish Bear Jew? Which Uma Thurman do you prefer: drug-addled Mia Wallace or revenge-obsessed The Bride? Mix the perfect amount of sex and violence for this Tarantino-themed party and refrain from cutting anyone’s ear off when they inevitably play “Stuck in the Middle With You.” Open bar all night. 9 p.m., $45.
ALTITUDE 737 1 Place Ville-Marie, PH2 397-0737
If you like your scenesters strutting it up with Armani suits and Louis Vuitton purses, then this is the perfect party for you, 43 floors above downtown Montreal. The attire may be fancy, but don’t worry, the drinks are hella cheap, because in this city, even the upscale crowd drinks frugal. 8 p.m., $55.
BAINS DOUCHES 390 St-Jacques, 845-3066
If the name of the club doesn’t worry you a tinsy little bit, then Escapade 2012 promises to be an “electrifying experience” with 100, 000 watts of sound dedicated to house, R&B and more courtesy of DJ Hill. $25 for the open bar from 8–11p.m., and $60 for open bar from 8 p.m.–3 a.m.
BALATTOU 4372 St-Laurent, 845-5447
Balattou hosts its traditional Réveillon Tropical once again, with an African buffet, tropical music and champagne at midnight. 9 p.m, $25.
BALROOM BAR 3643 St-Laurent, 282-7665
The friendly staff at Balroom quite simply invites you to “en virer une grosse.” If you’re not sure what that means, it means to go on a murderous rampage against your brain cells (approximate translation). 9 p.m., $30 (ladies), $40 (men).
BAR & BOEUF SUPPERCLUB 500 McGill, 866-3555
Start off your party night with a four-course meal at 5:30 p.m. for $49, or if you’re feeling particularly gourmand, show up at 8 p.m. for the five-course VIP dinner ($150). The following party starts at 11 p.m. with open bar, 80s, 90s, R&B and hip hop music and a champagne flute at midnight. $50 (women), $60 (men).
BILY KUN 354 Mont-Royal E., 845-5392
DJ No Commercial Value brings his “atypical dance music” to the Plateau bar, where there’ll be a round of free bubbly at midnight. 10 p.m., free.

Don’t want to make a big fuss for New Year’s? Crew Year’s Eve promises “no frills, good music and good times” with DJs Jonny Jungle and Hatchmatik, free champagne at midnight and hosts DL Jones and Liam Thursty keeping you entertained. 10 p.m., $10.
BLUE DOG MOTEL 3958 St-Laurent, 848-7006
Freaks and weirdos are asked to report to MMXII, an all-night “all-you-can-drink-all-you-can-dance” fest that will supposedly resemble the final scene in Footloose (the 1984 original, obviously). Open bar all night. 10 p.m. $35.
BLVD44 4467 St-Laurent, 638-2583
The new private club in town presents a “luxurious escape from traditional nightlife.” Find out what that means at this exclusive party with French DJ Willy William. Open bar from 9 to 11 p.m. Contact them for membership. $40.
BOUL NOIR 551 Mont-Royal E., 525-5091
Try your luck at black jack, poker, roulette and more during the Casino Royale-themed party. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served all night. Who knows, you may start 2012 fully loaded (the meaning of which is for you to decide). 9 p.m., $45 (women), $65 (men).
B-SIDE 3616 St-Laurent, 844-8883
Practise your foxtrot or your Charleston or whatever they were into back then for the Roaring 20s New Year’s Eve Party. Nothing like looking back, in order to look forward, or something. 10 p.m. $20/$30.

CAFÉ CAMPUS 57 Prince Arthur E., 844-1010
Considering the measly amount they charge for booze, this may be one of the cheapest club options. Celebrate your end-of-year at their masked ball, which will probably conclude with questionable end-of-night decisions. Remember, everybody looks better with a mask on. 8:30 p.m., $10.
CAFÉ CLÉOPÂTRE 1230 St-Laurent, 871-8065
The toughest cookie of the Lower Main happily sticks around for another year, and hopefully countless more to come. Cléopâtre star Reena hosts this special New Year’s cabaret with Penelope, special guest artists and a lot of surprises! 10 p.m., free.
CANDI BAR 1148 Mont-Royal E., 524-4075

CASA DEL POPOLO 4873 St-Laurent, 284-0122
With or without bias, this could be the best partay in town. Okay, so the DJs include former Mirror film editor Mark Slutsky and current Mirror news columnist Raf K, but that, obviously, has nothing to do it. A free glass of “champagne-style beverage” will be served at midnight. 10 p.m., $10 in 2011, $15 in 2012.
CFC 6388 St-Hubert
