Torture for the whole family |

Being of legal age might be of utmost importance to the neo-cons on their own soil, but when stealing someone else's, it looks like there's no need for an age limit - at least not in matters of abuse. A TV station in Mainz, Germany, has aired a report claiming the detainment and torture of Iraqis by U.S forces isn't exclusive to adults. Speaking to Südwestrundfunk's Report Mainz, Florian Westphal of the International Red Cross said there were at least 107 Iraqi children at six coalition-run detention centres. The show included eye-witness reports of abuse of children and teen detainees. One American staff sergeant assigned to Abu Ghraib told Report Mainz about military police interrupting U.S. interrogators and a half-naked 15-year-old girl. The show also aired excerpts from a yet-unreleased UNICEF report that is congruent with the IRC findings, and criticizes the U.S. for classifying the children as detainees - effectively stripping them of any rights. » Scott Saxon |
