For three long years, the merchants of the Deering Oaks, Maine, farmers' market have put up with an awful lot of shit - but no more. Every Saturday, farmers would arrive at Deering Oaks Park to find the road through the park covered in feces. Feces that had clearly been placed there intentionally. Finally the law decided to look into the matter.

Policeman Dan Knight and a fellow officer were sent to stake out the park. At about 3:30 Saturday morning, they spotted a woman - later identified as Lora Leland - emptying bags onto the road. They approached her and asked what she was up to. Leland didn't hold back. She admitted to dumping dog shit on the road to disrupt the farmers, explaining that the market prevented her from riding her bike in the park on Saturday mornings.

Leland's been charged with misdemeanour criminal mischief and barred from the park for one year.
