What sort of degenerate would ignore the flashing lights of a vehicle clearly bearing the insignia of the Florida Highway Patrol? From what foul depths could have crawled a man who'd drive well above the speed limit, intoxicated by both alcohol and demon marijuana? In the case of Travis D. McConchie, he came from the bowels of Largo Road Prison. He was no fugitive, though: just a state corrections officer kicking back during his off time. Patrolmen clocked McConchie doing 73 in a 45 mile per hour zone, then chased him about half a mile when McConchie refused to pull over. When he finally did stop, police found McConchie stinking of booze, his eyes all red and his balance kind of off. He told police that he hadn't pulled over because he was busy being straddled by his naked girlfriend. McConchie was arrested. He still had three days to report that fact to his supervisors when the story hit the St. Petersburg Times. » Scott Saxon |
