Man bites dog

Salesman
of the year

Perhaps it's his sales tactics that need refining. Or maybe he's illiterate. Of course, there's always the chance he's just stupid. Whatever it was, 17-year-old Davaugn Goethe of Stamford, Connecticut, will be taking some time to re-assess his life after trying to sell crack to two cops whose jackets were emblazoned with the word "police," in bold, capital letters.

According to Lt. Jon Fontneau of the Stamford Police Department, two officers were looking for a fugitive on a local strip where the dealers hang. They were clad in raid gear and driving in an unmarked car that was nonetheless known to "just about everyone" as a police vehicle. Goethe apparently mistook the slow pace the car was moving at as a sign its occupants were looking to score. Without asking, he pulled the door open, hopped in and asked the officers if he could take their order. Goethe also told the officers that they "look like cops." Which is when they arrested him. He's currently awaiting his chance to appear in court.
