Stop, get a ticket

Cherry: If you get arrested in the Netherlands, you’ll be riding down to the precinct in a Volkswagen Golf. Get nabbed by the fuzz in the Solomon Islands and you’ll be riding in a 4x4 pickup. In Norway, the paddy wagon is a suburban-looking Volvo. You can check out cop cars from all over the world at the creatively named Police Car Web Site. Licence and registration at http://anzwers.org/free/policecars/.

Fast film: From the cultural mecca of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, comes ZeroTV, a Web site that offers an unsuspecting public a daily five-minute short film. The films are serials—they follow a plot that unfolds week-to-week, and feature some star power, sort of: Mark Borchardt and Mike Schank from the indie hit American Movie. One series, called Porn, is like those cheesy lead-ins to porno movies, except without any actual porno. It’s funny, and proof Milwaukee is home to a thriving film culture.
