What better way to demonstrate what evolution has yet to accomplish than the pairing of two still-mostly-monkey-brains in one high school? The topic of the day’s science class was evolution. Miami Beach High teacher Yrvan Tassy Jr. was lecturing students when somehow the idea of jumping out of a window came up. A 17-year-old student insisted he was durable enough to jump out the classroom’s second floor window and land unharmed. Tassy was sure the lad would be injured, and put $20 on the table to show his certainty. The unnamed student took the bet and leapt out the window. He landed unharmed, and returned to class looking for his 20 bucks. Tassy said he’d bring it the next day, but didn’t get the chance, having been quickly transferred to a non-teaching position elsewhere in the city. School administrators are investigating the incident, and also called the police. A Miami-Dade police spokesman said it’s unlikely any criminal charges would result. » Scott Saxon |
