While many politicos prefer debating gay marriage, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, DA Bruce L. Castor has decided to cut that nonsense. Instead, Castor’s campaigning for state attorney general with a solemn promise: try gay marriage on his turf, and you will go to jail. “There should be no Rosie O’Donnell weddings in Pennsylvania,” Castor said, “and there won’t be if I’m the attorney general.” Criminal prosecution won’t end with the couples, but will reach everyone involved in the process. He’s already sent a letter to his county courthouse warning that, should anyone issue a marriage licence to a same-sex couple, the clerk and office “would potentially face criminal liability.” Though Pennsylvania’s ACLU is concerned about Castor’s decision to bring criminal charges into the debate, most activists think Castor is just talking out of his sweet little ass. Pennsylvania law already defines marriage as being between a male and female, and no same-sex couples have come around looking to wed, anyway. » Scott Saxon |
