The Italian murder mystery Who Saw Her Die? (1972) is available at Boîte Noire on DVD, and I strongly recommend it. George Lazenby, not looking so fine in his early post-James Bond phase, here plays a father devastated by the mysterious murder of his plucky daughter. Haunted by her death (and a kooky Ennio Morricone score), Lazenby heads off to find out who is killing various Italian children. Is it the mob? The Vatican? Or a combo of the two? The DVD also has an interview with director Aldo Lado, who boasts that pedophilia is one of his fave motifs. And who can ever tire of all that dreadful dubbing?

Also at Boîte Noire is Circus of Horrors (1960), in which a wayward plastic surgeon escapes murder charges by moving to France and buying a circus (a winning career move). There, he helps various circus freaks become beautiful. Lots of chills, but the best part is watching Donald Pleasence try to pull off playing a Frenchman - a truly surreal casting call. » Matthew Hays
