Brave Combo

Diggity: There are a lot of foods out there named after animals that didn't make it into the pot for that dish - buffalo wings, hot dogs, catsup. But Octodogs have to be one of the oddest. Combining the mutually unlikely duo of octopus and canine, the Octodog is actually a conventional frankfurter octosected into something that looks like a red rubber squid - and then you eat it. Gross? Very. Kids will love it at www.octodog.net.

Slide rule: Lacking talking dogs and spoon-wielding lesser demons, A Day in the Life of an Engineer ain't exactly Dilbert, but this interactive documentary film by Sarah Morley is fascinating stuff. It follows the lives of three engineers from morning to night. Sound dull? Think again. Keep in mind nearly everything you use or touch on a daily basis was either designed or made possible by an engineer. It's part of the New Cinema and New Media festival at www.fcmm.com.
