Man bites dog

Leg up on
drug dealing

A man finds out his son is using heroin and decides to go punish the dealer with a sound beating. He uses a weapon. Not a knife, shotgun or baseball bat, but rather a prosthetic leg. The very same prosthetic leg he removed from his son before heading out to serve up some Just Say No. This is the tale of Kevin Miele, a 45-year-old Saginaw, Michigan man whose anti-drug message earned him charges of felonious assault.

Witnesses say Miele approached the dealer on the street around mid-afternoon and punched him once before pulling out the leg, which he used to hit the dealer "wherever he could." According to Officer Charles D. Morrison, one bystander commented that, "This looks like something the police ought to regulate." Police arrested the dealer later that night.

Morrison couldn’t recall "exactly how many" prior felonious assault cases involved the use prosthetics. The leg is currently locked in an evidence room, awaiting Miele’s hearing.
