Make room on the dancefloor!

Looks like people on the Plateau might get lucky this summer with the arrival of a beautiful new spot on the corner of Parc and Fairmount. Dancing Mocha Jo's has already opened its doors as a dance studio during daylight hours, offering classes in tango, salsa, jazz and echango. This Thursday, May 15, at 9 p.m., you can check out Ark of Infinity when they open the night with their musical vibrations. Jo's is located at 5175 Parc, and there's all manner of space to dance - thank you! The tax is $8 at the door, for more info call 277-5575.

Got a tip the other day saying that Prince Paul will be rolling into town on June 13. The modest but legendary DJ/producer joins Aceyalone for the Love and Hate the Business Tour as it drops into Club Soda for the early June date. Also on the bill is local boy DR One and special guest Eyedea from Eyedea & Abilities. This one will set you back a paltry $20, so start saving now.

Diehard ruffneck Yvon Kreve gets ready for a show at Club Soda on May 30 in support of his new LP Quand j'rap. The "King of Longueuil" hits the crowd with a little bit of help from friends DJ Shortcut, Moshine, Jon Bling, 01 Etranjj and DJ Albator. This all-ages show is only $12 and marks the return of one of the city's most rugged microphone personalities. Imagine, an all-ages show where Yvon goes buck! Can't wait.

Tokyo is gearing up for the return of their Project House-produced Get Busy! Showcase on May 22. The night will feature live painting from artist Luc Paradis, who'll be working off the vibes put on the table by DJs DR One, Johnny Jungle and Heavy B (whatup, Bobby!). Also for your listening pleasure will be the microphone stylings of MCs Loes and Oddeo, giving you just a taste of things to come.

If y'all got nothing to do tonight, May 15, you're welcome to come and check out myself and DJ Dubline at le Swimming (3645 St-Laurent) for some Monkey Bizness. We'll be rocking hip hop, funk, soul and all kinds of craziness at this CJLO one–off. $5 should get you dancing.

Oh, and to Eric B and Rakim, throwing parties in "the most beautiful loft in Montreal," next time specify that you're not getting in unless you remove your shoes on the flyer. I respect your approach, but you need to check that "lofty" attitude at the door with the footwear. Peace.

Seven reasons I need my shoes to get down
1. Prefuse 73 "Busy Signal" (Warp)
2. Cinematic Orchestra "Man With the Movie Camera" (Domu remix) (CDR)
3. DJ Cam "I'm a Rasta" 12" (Chronowax)
4. Terri Walker "Drawing Board" W&U mix (Rebutz)
5. Rima "This World" 2000 Black Excursion (CDR)
6. Jaylib "Up to the Red" (CDR)
7. Dwele "Truth" 12" (Virgin)
