Torture, anyone? |
|
by SCOTT C
I urge you very strongly to make your way down to Jello tonight, May 1, as Therapy presents New York's Tortured Soul live in Montreal for the first time. The trio of Christian Urich (drums/vocals), Ethan White (keyboards) and Jason Kriveloff (bass) is probably best known for the recent, but classic, house track "I Might Do Something Wrong" that was remixed by Osunlade and blazed in everybody's head. They've also toured and shared stages with people like Soulive and Maceo Parker. These guys can play, and imagine, the last thing they want you to do is stand there and watch them get down. This is rhythmic and soulful music that was made for moving. Look for a new album on Central Park Records very soon. Beatheads gather round. Maybe I'm the last person to find out about this, but if you go to www.beatsociety.com, you'll find that this Philly-based site provides an open forum for hip hop producers who want to showcase their work or put it on sale. You can also post reviews and contact MCs and other producers out there as well. I'm still waiting for the next installment of Montreal's showcase for hip hop producers. Anybody out there? Made my way down to the Montreal Spring Record Convention at Palais des Congrès last weekend and finally realized the massive proportions of Old Montreal's newest behemoth. What I don't understand is how the record shows in Montreal are monopolized by guys selling bootleg videos of various Metallica, Megadeth and Alice Cooper tours, Elvis specialists, and fat French rockers selling dollar records for 10 or 12 bucks. I still go though, and always find something. Another organized convention of ageing Québécois rockers never hurt nobody, including me. Seven reasons it's a matter of time: Talking's overrated anyways… incubator@hiphopsite.com |
