Honk if you’re a bigot |

The 30th annual Conservative Political Action Conference, held in Arlington, Virginia, was a dazzling affair. The list of speakers and attendees included Vice-President Cheney and enough moneyed neo-cons to make Noam Chomsky whimper like a sick dog. And as they gathered to revel in their ill-formed theories on crime, foreign policy and an infallible America, the people were offered keepsakes, including a bumper sticker for $3.95 (U.S.) that read, "No Muslims - No Terrorism." According to CPAC organizers, an aide from Cheney’s office called to say they’d received a complaint about the sticker and expressed "strong displeasure." The stickers were quickly taken off display, leaving a void between the confederate flags and other bumper stickers, including one featuring a swastika where the "s" in "Islam" should be. Despite their absence from view, the stickers were still available to anyone who inquired. To sweeten the deal, the price had been reduced. : » Scott Saxon |
