Feet in flames

>> Hot moves from breakdancing at the Fringe to folkdancing in Parc Lafontaine

by MARTITES CARINO

Now that summer’s around the corner, most local dance spaces are closing up shop for the season and dance activity is winding down. But not to worry, it’s not coming to a complete stop. Here are some happenings to help you fill your summer dance quota :

If you didn’t get a chance to see Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal’s superb production Lumière espace temps II, which opened in the spring, mark August 8-11 on your calendar: you’ll get a second chance to see this show which includes works by choreographers Crystal Pite and Trey McIntyre.

And to round off the Lafontaine Park dance series, and the summer dance season, Montréal Danse takes the stage with Big Bang. On the program: an intriguing theatrical work by Jean-Pierre Mondor, ENTER: LAST by José Navas and Je ne m’en souviens pas très bien from Estelle Clareton, Aug. 23 and 24.

Happy summer dancing!
