F This is in response to the rant about the Neanderthal Nazi skinheads showing up at the Psychotic Four show. I’d just like to know why this person who hates Neanderthal Nazi skinheads so much didn’t say anything at the show? I was there and they weren’t being a general nuisance or intimidating anyone. Freedom of speech is not one-sided, it’s a two-sided thing. Punk is open to anybody who wants to go to shows, including Nazis. [BLEEP!]

M About the Nazi skinheads. It’s very sad to see that somebody who thinks he’s defending his scene didn’t stand up and deal with those dickheads on the spot, right there and then. Instead he puts a rant in the paper. I don’t think that’s a very manly thing to do. I’ve been in the scene for a very long time and I was there that night and had a few beers with these guys and they were very down to earth and cool. Punks have always hung out with Nazi skinheads because we’re not down with REDSKIN politics and communism and shit like that. We’re against controlling ourselves. And it’s not Nazis controlling us now, it’s the fucking redskin scene. [BLEEP!]

F Let’s talk about the Psychotic Four paranoia. Punks don’t give a fuck about politics. They think and decide things for themselves. So don’t go around preaching, brainwashing or dictating ideology to the whole world. Not everyone agrees with neo-Nazis or you. If you’re scared or frustrated when neo-Nazis are around, you can always leave the show, go home and read a book about history which, by the way, started before 1939 and before Neanderthals. M So I went to Primitive Records today and they had a Skrewdriver record - not just in the stacks but on the wall! Skrewdriver, for those of you who don’t know, is a Nazi racist skinhead band from the late ’70s and early ’80s and they’re just godawful. So if you go to Primitive Records, until it’s taken down, until they get rid of it, until they stop selling shit like that, please say something to the guy. Or just don’t shop there at all. Celebrating Skrewdriver and trying to make money off of it is a racist endeavour! [BLEEP!]

M This is Dick Trouble. I’m the DJ at Foufounes Électriques on Tuesday nights and Friday afternoons. There’s a huge rumour going around that on Tuesday nights at Foufounes, it’s drum & bass. I’d like to set that straight. The drum & bass thing has been over for quite a while now and if you come on Tuesday nights, you’ll get nothing but full-on rock: heavy metal, punk, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Dead Kennedys - everything. It’s a whole big punch in the face. Foufounes is a great bar when there’s great music playing. So Tuesday nights should be one of your favourite nights, everybody. [BLEEP!]

M I don’t know if anyone else knows this, but Michie Mee, one of the great Canadian talents in the hip hop community, is right now hostessing - or chaperoning - a fucking kids’ show on CBC called Smart Ask. What is the world coming to, man? [BLEEP!]

M This is a scoop for the Rant Line™. Scoop alert. I saw that last week someone mentioned Jeff from ex-DBC, ex-Vomit and the Zits, now in Time Takers. Well, listen to this, people, DBC are back together! They’re doing their reunion show on New Year’s Eve at the L’X and they should be playing with Time Takers and the infamous Stugats. And also, this girl from Beauty Dropout who plays drums, I’d like to see her play NAKED. Thank you. [BLEEP!]

F This is for the chickie who called to comment on the local music scene - the one who sat around with her friends and made a list of the top five Montreal drummers. All I have to say, just to be rhetorical, is one word: Flo from Cryptopsy. All of you who know what I’m talking about. He’s the best and you know it. [BLEEP!]

M I’m calling in regards to that sick skank who ranted about the best drummers in Montreal. She’s obviously on heavy drugs. The drummer for the Discords is better than all of those people put together. Have this girl put in some restraints or something. [BLEEP!]

M This is for the gay musician. I’m also a queer musician but I’m not into rap, jazz, electronica or opera. I’d say I’m closer to a metalhead. Queer metalheads unite! [BLEEP!]

M Yes, I’m calling to complain about the Atwater Market. Seventy years does not make something a landmark. That’s only 70 years old. My grandmother’s house is older than that so how come it’s not a landmark too? [BLEEP!]
