Numerology is the study of numbers, based upon the premise that they can reveal hidden information. Numbers is a no-wave group from San Francisco on KID 606’s label Tigerbeat6. The Mirror did a numerological analysis (looking at expression, persona and soul urge) of Numbers in order to reveal hidden information about these musical mathematicians, who are a winning combination of Wire, Gang of Four, Kleenex, Adult. and DNA. Here are the results, followed by reactions from Numbers guitarist Dave Broekema :

The Expression number shows us who we truly are and what we came into this life already knowing.

Numbers result: 11 “You are endowed with a high vibration energy that may be expressed through inspirational art or invention. You have access to prophetic wisdom and your positive attitude is a transformational force in other people’s lives. Fame and notoriety is very likely at some point in your life, as your kind of energy gets noticed!”

Numbers reaction: “Yeah, sounds about right, except for the famous part. I’d say we only have prophetic wisdom in so far as we know we’re not gonna be famous. As a transformational force, we make people have fun and dance.”

The Persona number describes the way we appear to the outside world, the first impression people have of us. Persona gives us a peek at some hidden talents we have. It is likened to a bag of tools (jewels) that we carry with us along the way.

Numbers result: 3 “There seems to be a golden glow of optimism and joy around you wherever you go. You are witty and playful, and your idealistic nature irresistibly draws the little child out of everyone you meet. People cluster around your radiance. You enjoy dressing up and are very creative with accessories.”

Numbers reaction: “Hopefully that’s true. We like ties. We certainly drew the little children out of everybody in Shreveport last week. The audience was having this hilarious contest of who could come up with the stupidest dance. They were the most awkward and dumb dances I’ve ever seen, like dancing on one leg and waving the other in the air. It was really funny.”

The Soul Urge number is our secret, innermost longing—our dream, our motivation, the fuel that energizes our journey. Some have said that this number tells us what we have been in previous lifetimes.

Numbers result: 8 “Achievement is your motivating force and you will take on the biggest challenge in order to make the longest strides. Psychology interests you because it enables you to understand the people that you are leading, as well as the competition.”

Numbers reaction: “It’s kinda true, but kinda not. We have things we want to achieve, but not in terms of commercial success. We want to make music we like and have a good time. We are into psychology, though. We just wrote some new lyrics about having a serious injury that really hurts and you can’t think about anything except for how much it hurts. It goes like this: “Now the injury consumes my brain/I am drunk, drunk with pain.” :
