Damn right

No merit badge

With 37 merit badges and over 1,000 hours of community service, one would expect the Eagle Scouts of America to tout 19-year-old Darrell Lambert as their poster boy. Instead, the assistant Scoutmaster of the Port Orchard, Washington troop is facing expulsion, and he isn’t even gay. Lambert, a self-described atheist, has been ordered to come up with a higher power to worship or get the hell out.

A Scout since age nine, Lambert didn’t hide his atheism when he made Eagle Scout, but an argument over the organization’s “Believe in God” rule of membership brought the issue to the fore. Three weeks later, Lambert received a letter from the Chief Seattle Council telling him to find a god. Any god.

Brad Farmer, Scout executive of the branch, said the Scouts don’t care what god Lambert worships—even “Mother Nature would be acceptable.” Lambert would rather remain godless and plans to fight the Scouts on whatever levels necessary. :
