We’ve got a spook-tacular weekend coming up, featuring all manners of parties (and creatures) great and small, so leave the kids in the day-scare centre, take out the scare-spray and boo-kle your sheet-belts, ’cause this weekend’s gonna be the death of you! Bone appetite! (I think I’m gonna be sick).

Tonight, Thursday, Oct. 31, anyone looking to turn the clock back two decades should drop by Tokyo and check out the “Finnish sensation” Fantasy as they kick out the ’80s cover jams. Anyone who’s been to either of their first two shows knows what kind of party is in store, so make sure you come out. It’s only a measly $3, so no excuses!

Over at Bluedog, check out DJ Mini, Seko and Nathan Burns for a special, spooky installment of their regular Mafia Electronique nights. Expect the unexpected (which includes free “homemade” orange punch for those dressed up) and a cover charge of two bucks.

For a slightly larger-scale event, drop by the SAT as Trigger Recordings, AliceMusik, Moonshine Productions and the SAT present ANIMAL. Featured will be a special, live old-school electro set from France’s Stamba with another live set from Montreal’s Alice & the Serial Numbers. Behind the decks, Pfreud and Philgood will be taking it to the breaka D. Disguises are a must and prizes will be drawn, so be there!

On Sunday, Nov. 3, drop by the Quartier Latin Pub for some weekend decompression with Cheryl Sim. After a stint with the since-deceased local downtempo group Gazelle, Sim is back for a special “showcase guinea-pig thingy” featuring her all-new original material. Acompanied by G.W. Brazier and John Britton, Sim will be laying down some serious sensual groove in a piano, bass and drums stylee. The time is 7 p.m. and there’s no cover, so check it out.
