Sikh and ye
shall find!

by SCOTT SEE

Damn! Yesterday I woke up at 7:30 a.m. to try and do some work, only to find my house in a deep-freeze situation. Now, if most of you are like me, you know the heat isn’t getting turned on until the windows are frosted over, so there’s gonna be a lot of tip-toeing around, wool gear and heavy blankets, seen? While I was trying to warm up my hands to use the computer, I remembered that back when I was around 11 or 12 years old, there used to be these things called Hot Shots. They were little tin-foil squares that you snapped in half like a glow-stick, and they’d get all warm and toasty. Stick one of those babies in your gloves before a GT SnoRacer session, and you’d be outside with warm hands all day. I want those things now. Do they still make them? And if not, how come? I’m sure they were toxic, but damn, they were warm. The worst was when the heat started to wear off and you fingers started to get cold again. Time to go in.

If you don’t already know, the sun has gone down on Rotation, one of the many record stores located along the St-Laurent strip. Sadly, the doors were closed last Friday by reluctant man in charge Gary “Troubleman” Tremblay, who, along with the music-minded staff, was able to stock the bins with some of the good shit for everyone. Those of you wondering, “Isn’t that Jojo Flores’s store, too?” aren’t far off the mark, but Jojo has other things on his mind. He’s getting all geared up for Osunlade’s North American tour, set to hit NYC, Philly, Chicago, L.A., Toronto and Montreal in late November, where Jojo will play backup to the DJing Yoruba priest.

Those of you who missed Jazzy Jeff the last few times he rolled through might just have to miss him again. If you’ve got wheels, you can check out this Philly legend on Oct. 12 at Redlite in Laval. Can’t somebody work it so that Jeff can play downtown as well? I mean, c’mon. No disrespect to the suburbs, but we need Jeff downtown, all right? There’s still time for you to pick up his new record The Magnificent on BBE, if you haven’t already copped that.

Check for beats from Sikh Knowledge, and forget Seek One because he only exists in the minds of fools. :
