Small scale: Racing Hot Wheels around your kitchen as a kid, you imagined what it’d be like if the cars could drive around on their own. Fortunately, some Japanese scientists have developed remote control cars no bigger than a Hot Wheels—and they’re available now, while you’re still young. Smoked Meat: Not many people know this, but Lester’s, the Mile-End underdog of delis, has a Web site all about that most controversial of cured beef products, smoked meat. Purists may counter that it’s just their side of the story, but testimonials from such luminaries as fashion designer Simon Chang and political cartoonist Serge Chapleau may bring you over.
