Squeal like
you mean it

The mother of an eighth-grade Omaha boy is gearing up for a battle with the school board after her son received a five-day suspension for turning in another student who’d passed him a bag of pot. The school believes that Joshua Erdkamp should have squealed immediately, rather than later that day.

Erdkamp was in class when another boy handed him a bag to pass on. When he saw what he was handling, Erdkamp threw the bag away, saving a small amount of its contents to show his school counsellor. When he couldn’t readily find the counsellor, Erdkamp put in a request to see him. Upon hearing of the delay, Morton Middle School principal Ivory Woods suspended Erdkamp, saying the slow response could not be tolerated.

Erdkamp’s mother says the school is teaching that, “When you tell, you get in trouble.” She is appealing the suspension and requesting it be struck from her son’s record. :
