M Hello, Rant Line™. I just wanna set a few facts straight. Again, I’m reading stuff about Chriss Lee and Talamasca and frankly it’s a bit annoying. I mean, if everybody hates this guy so much, then why is everybody still talking about him? Let’s set some things straight, shall we? Number one, Chriss Lee never killed himself. He doesn’t have the balls to actually go ahead and do it for real so what did he do? He fucked off to Toronto where he stirred up shit and ran back here momentarily before fucking off to Toronto again. Second fact: the only musician who I’m aware of who is still here in this city making music-be it glam or goth or VAMPIRE BLOOD ROCK, as all the kids are calling it these days-well, that would be his old bass player Vlad Barna. He’s making very good music and he’s actually got a heavy following and for those that don’t know who he is, I would suggest checking out his band Sister Sacrilege on the Internet. It’s Sistersacrilege.com. Let me tell you, he’s doing pretty good for himself thus far. And even though competition in the local scene is pretty cutthroat, he’s really pushing himself and working hard. And, get this, he’s a really cool guy. I’ve met him, a lot of people have met him and although he doesn’t speak much, he does really have a lot to say when you hear his vocals. Fact number three: let’s not talk about Talamasca anymore because all we’re really doing is adding to Chriss Lee’s IMMORTALITY STATUS which he has done everything possible to achieve. [BLEEP!] F This is a rant about Talamasca-not the lead singer but the guitar player. No one seems to remember who he was but he’s actually the guy who was playing bass in that stupid band La Chicane and who’s now doing a solo project. He’s called Dany Bédard. He used to paint his face white and dress in black but now he sings stupid love songs for little girls. What a poseur, huh? Please spread the word around because no one seems to remember him but I do. Now we can all laugh at him together when we see him on the streets. [BLEEP!] M This is Jake Brown ranting in defence of Bloodshot Bill who is an ERUDITE and witty man unlike the rant against him which is neither erudite nor witty. Hey, Strip Joker, he doesn’t need to see your band to know you suck. Your name sucks and you suck. Thanks very much. [BLEEP!] M Hi. This is my opinion about the local music scene in Montreal. The best bands that anyone wants to see in the city are Psychedelic Four, Judgemental and, of course, the Globe Escorts. As for other bands: Beauty School Dropouts, well, those people cannot play music anymore, it’s a joke. So don’t waste your money and time to see them. That goes for the Ripcordz, too. Those guys should have retired a long time ago too because they have no more ideas. Thanks a lot. [BLEEP!] F I was driving by the 13 and I saw a billboard for that new radio station, 94.7 HITS. It said “Nix the Mix.” Even though the pop and R&B blend on 94.7 is better than the 12 songs on rotation at the Mix, I’m not sure how I feel about American DJs invading our airwaves. I mean, the BUZZ is okay because they’re not directly competing with anyone, but I don’t want to have to see Ken and Kat begging for change because their radio station was dumped by its own city. If anyone else has an opinion on this, I’d like to hear it. Bye. [BLEEP!] M Yeah, this is for the girl who needs some yodelling tips. I have a record, it’s not an instructional record but it does have some classic yodels. If you come by Blizzarts on Monday, I will leave it with the DJ for you. I hope that helps you. [BLEEP!] M When I walk around with my head down, it’s not because I have LOW SELF CONFIDENCE, it’s because people leave their dog shit lying around all over the place. [BLEEP!] M Yeah, this is the guy who doesn’t enjoy the elderly making everyone who takes public transportation late. My rant was not directed solely at old people. Because they move in slow motion they should be entitled to their own plush open-seated buses like they deserve. That way Grandma can hop on the Silver Line and go about her pointless day in casual comfort. [BLEEP!] M Hi. I’m doing security right now in Vaudreuil-Dorion and I was just looking up at the sky and I see all these stars, right, and it just got me thinking-every other place in the same time zone as us, right now, is looking up and seeing the same stars. How is that possible if they look like they’re right above me? This has been bothering me all night. [BLEEP!] Next week: Open forum
