Jury
A 38-year-old Westport, Connecticut, man is facing two misdemeanor charges for responding to a call for jury duty in a manner unacceptable to the courts. Christopher Gurahian, who’s been summoned thrice in the past two years, mailed back the latest summons after apparently using it to wipe his bum. Having served on a jury in April 2000, Gurahian was considered ineligible to serve when called seven months later, and again this past March. Fed up with the trek to the courthouse knowing he’d be disqualified, Gurahian decided to make his feelings clear. An employee at the Office of Jury Administration knew exactly what she was smelling when she opened Gurahian’s returned envelope. Written on the soiled document were the words “Stop wasting paper,” along with a drawing of a stick figure behind bars. Gurahian will face charges of second-degree
harassment and breach of the peace. : |
