I hope you all have been getting straight As in your Lamaze classes ’cause it looks like this Labour Day is gonna be a doozy! This Saturday, Aug. 31, get ready for another installment in the semi-regular I Love NEON events at the SAT. After the smash success of the last NEON (which featured NYC’s babe-alicious fantasy rap duo Crossover and a killer tag team by Tiga and Zyntherius), the NEON crew shows no signs of stoppage as they book Sweden’s FPU as the headliner. You may remember Peter “FPU” Benisch from his excellent ambient album Soundtrack Saga on Turbo a few years back, but make no mistake, this ain’t no mellowed-out, blissful, Sunday-afternoon shit. FPU is bringing the electro, and he’s bringing it hard. Also of note is the premiere performance by Montreal duo (and first signing to Turbo’s Fabergé sub-label) Chromeo. I heard the 12” and it’s quite massive, so don’t miss these guys either. On the decks, catch a four-hour set by Tiga, who’s fresh off a world tour and certainly has a few surprises in his bag, and a set by Jordan Dare, who is always ready to rock a party. Be there, but remember, the weekend isn’t over, so save your strength!

In the Bible it says that on Sunday, God rested. If He’d seen the line-up of DJ talent coming to Montreal this weekend, however, He would have just taken a disco nap. Sept. 1 at Aria is really a night to look forward to, with Toronto’s Kenny Glasgow, Sweden’s Christian Smith, Detroit’s Stacey Pullen and my man Terry Francis from the U.K. When I heard that Francis was coming to our humble city, I soiled my tech-house trousers flashing back to his amazing Architecture mix CDs that floated my boat years back.

Speaking of mix CDs, make sure you drop by DNA, Noize or Saphir (on Thursdays) to pick up a copy of DJ Sase One’s latest mix Tour Sessions Vol. 1, recorded live in the drum & bass Mecca known as Winnipeg on their last cross-Canada tour. The CD features five exclusive tracks, including ones by local steppers Krinjah, Angel and Sase One. Seeeelectah!

Monday, Sept. 2, do some post-Labour-Day decompression and drop by Blizzarts, where Bleu Nuit will take over the space once again with guests Chris Reno, Johnny Bastard and resident YRDM. You know the drill-soft, sexy French music, soft, sexy French films. Get fresh. :
