Those who will miss his sexy electro-tech stylings can still catch him in the post-2-a.m. slot in the main room at Sona on Fridays or at the annual outdoor Arrival this August 10 (more info on that later). Anyone looking for the home version of the Philgood experience can visit his supafly record store (co-owned by partner db) Center Records on St-Laurent, corner Laurier. It’s pretty much the source for electro and techno vinyl and CDs, new and used and a virtual one-stop for any budding electro DJ (and there are a lot of you, I’m sure). Although we say goodbye to Electro-vogue, there are many other electro nights out there to tickle your trendy fancy. Mondays at Jingxi, catch John F., Christian G. and guests as they host newavelectroteknonight Metro Mondays. Every Sunday at Bar Felix, cry Robot Tears in an electro-house-’80s-synthpop stylee with the no-nonsense CDJs El3ktrik 3rik and Robot Monster. For those of you looking to make your weekly electro experience a very drunken and disorderly one, drop by Stereobar Friday nights for their $12-open-bar-all-night shenanigans featuring Mr. Jordan Dare on the decks. The promoters promise debauchery up to the NC-17 rating so that means partial nudity and coarse language, viewer discretion is advised. If you’re looking to bump the rating up to XXX (which usually entails coarse language, donkeys and rubber sheets) then drop by Smut Fridays, which will be reborn better than ever next Friday, August 9 at the Funhouse (2101 Ste-Catherine E.) featuring the musical stylings of the fantabulous DJ Dekalogue and Leo Cruz. Be there! If your musical diet calls for more than just derivative ’80s nostalgia, then mix it up at the Escape party this Saturday, August 3. Two rooms will provide everything from drum & bass and breaks to techno and trance featuring local yokels like Reflex, Indica, Tao-Nhan, Urania, Golgo 13, Mini and G O’Brien. Friday night, August 2, catch Israeli psychedelic techno duo Astral Projection as they take over the Aria sound system with a live set that’s sure to have most trance fans blowing their collective glowsticks. For those of you not in the know, these guys have been around the psy-trance scene so long they probably remember when E actually contained MDMA and wasn’t mixed in a bathtub.
