Unhinged glam-punk and uninhibited babes
by CHRIS BARRY Catherine is the head temptress over at Exxxtravagant Productions, the folks behind www.exxxtravagant.com, a recently launched Web site devoted to all things rock ’n’ roll. Well, maybe not all things rock ’n’ roll, but at least a few of its arguably more important elements, like cars, bands-and nude photo spreads of the amateur babes who love ’em. Passionately devoted to promoting “the lifestyle,” this Saturday, Exxxtravagant will be hosting the first of what will become a monthly series of rock ’n’ roll shows, all featuring local bands and, certainly of equal importance, Exxxtravagant’s extensive stable of long-legged rock ’n’ roll nubiles. “The concept is to incorporate the girls into every show we put on,” says Catherine, a freelance graphic designer who admits to loving porn “when it’s done right.” “For example, this Saturday we are presenting the Evil Boys-a band that perfectly represents what we are about. The Evil Boys are not afraid to sing about sex and drugs, fun, and girls. So we’ve arranged for the girls from our site to be on stage with them for practically every song they do, dancing, flashing, we’ve worked out a lot of things. It’s a perfect match.” Yet the event offers more than simply a top-notch local glam/punk band doing their thing with a few bare-breasted broads thrown in for good measure. “We’ll be having body painting, wet T-shirt contests, prizes, and a bunch of stuff like that going on as well,” says Catherine confidently. Throw in celebrated local man-girl Plastik Patrik from One 976 and DJ Sly spinning tunes, and goddamn, it sounds like you’ve got yourself one rockin’ and a rollin’ spectacle. But,
one might be apt to wonder, is this whole endeavour not just a little
exploitative? What about the dignity of these poor innocents being encouraged
to exhibit their most delicious attributes in the name of rock ’n’
roll? My God, the morality, man! What about the morality?!
While not everyone may agree with her reasoning, it’s hard to deny that fun-lovin’ chicks have always played an important part in the majesty that is rock ’n’ roll. Certainly they’ve been the inspiration behind many an adolescent’s decision to pick up their first guitar and start making noise. “You
know, things have evolved from the days of the groupie who just followed
bands around,” Catherine continues. “The way I see it, the
girls are in control now. They provide a lot of the interest in rock
’n’ roll. I think they’re almost as important as the
musicians these days. They decide how they walk, how they dance, how
they party. You can go out and party and not necessarily be regarded
as a slut, if you carry yourself in the right way, as a party girl.
I think it’s more a situation of female empowerment now-if you
want it to be, at least.”
