Why she chose to get into the beauty field: So she could always find work wherever, and whenever, she needed it. Has she ever felt compelled to tell any of her customers to give it up and save their money, nothing she can do could possibly alter the appearance of their hideous dog face? No. How much a massage costs at Esthetician Rina: $50. Are her customers nude for their massages? Usually yes, although she prefers-but does not insist-that her male customers keep their underwear on. Does she do any “extra” massage services at the beauty salon? Certainly not. What her male customers come in for then: “Mostly for hair removal on their chests and backs. Although some come in for pedicures as well.” Is it safe to assume that most men coming in for pedicures are homo? Absolutely not. “Many of them have been sent here by their girlfriends.” Does it get problematic when customers with foot odour problems insist that she give them a pedicure? “No, we always have people soak their feet before we start.” Will she remove the hair from your genitals? Yes, as long as you’re a chick. The way one might permanently remove the hair from one’s testicles: Through electrolysis. Is it safe to assume that having your genitals zapped in the name of beauty is a painful ordeal? “It depends on the person and their threshold for pain.” Something she is pretty good at: “Drainage lymphatique,” a special massage technique that works wonders for varicose veins. Something else she does: Plays bass in her band Meyronne, “a French pop/rock/folk kind of thing” who are currently looking for a publisher. “We try our best to play around town but, you know, there aren’t too many places to perform in Montreal unless you do covers.” Her bass: A Gibson Musicman. Something she is interested in: New-age healing techniques like therapeutic touch, energy healing and the like. “But I’m not a mystic.” Her preferred scents: Chanel Nos. 5 and 19. Last book read: The Fiery Cross, by Diana Gabaldon. Musical preferences: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Police. Words of wisdom: “Be happy and do what you want to do.” : Comments? dimwit@openface.ca |
