The name Lederhosen Lucil is getting around faster than a Merc on the Autobahn, and with good reason. The one-Fraülein Casio-core act-known not only for her everchanging “hosen” and dubious accent but also for her idiosyncratic little ditties about food, germs, crap jobs and doofy boys-has shown up on ska bills, with fellow ersatz Krauts the Subumlauts and of course in the lo-fi electro-goof context. A couple of months back, she solidified her local rep with the launch party for her Hosenmusik CD.

Now she’s taking it to the next level. Next Thursday sees what we can only hope will be the first of many Soiro Bizarros, Lucil’s off-kilter conception of what a multimedia event should be. Expect not only the ponytailed princess of push-button pop herself, but also a set from the Quickies (not a tune over two minutes!) and a DJ set from what we’re supposed to believe is the party-clown cousin of the Electronic Humans Guild’s Jon “J-Robot” Asencio. Furthermore, there will be a table laid out in honour of the Church of Craft (note: popsicle-stick crucifixes discouraged) and a political benefit bake sale (who let the tofu dogs out?!). Plus, apparently, robots-though LL Cool Schnee herself won’t give details on that. She would, however, give details on everything else, once her “handler” Krista Muir got the Mirror in touch with her.

Mirror: What’s the Soiro Bizarro all about, and what prompted you to do it?
Lederhosen Lucil: Ja, das Soiro Bizarro! It vas sparked by ein desire to have a show that would incorporate all things that I love-spectacles, music, baked goods, hosing und crafts. It came to me as I sat in das pantry. Usually my alter ego Krista only lets me aut to play shows, aber this way I figured I could make more use of mein nacht aut!

M: Aside from yourself in the headlining slot, you’ve got a variety of interesting guests lined up, including the Quickies. What can you tell me about them?
LL: The Quickies are ein sehr amazing three-headed beast of a rock ’n’ roll band that will stun und amaze deinen naked ear. Do nicht be afraid! They are from das Australia und often have ein baby crocodile mit them on stage und she does tricks.

M: Then there’s the clown DJ, apparently the cousin of J-Robot. What’s up with the clown DJ? Doesn’t greasepaint ruin vinyl?
LL: Sadly, or perhaps gladly, J-Robot’s cousin has been cryogenically frozen after he terrorized J-Robot and his freundlings at Ninja Tune. You see, there was ein clown epidemik und although he had been trained to spin vinyl, das greasepaint, as you mentioned, would fall into die grooves und ruin everything from AC/DC to Zanzibar Exfoliation. He went mad, ja.

M: How do robots factor into all this?
LL: You vill see... (insert ein maniacal laugh here, danke)

She’s crafty

M: I understand there’s a Church of Craft table in the works, relating to some crackpot theory of craftivism. What’s the deal, there?
LL: In order to truly appreciate das idea auf craftivism-I have been recently converted from pantryism, ja, it ist much mehr social-come to das Soiro! There will be ein Lucil-related craft for people to machen und other vunderbar craft-arten to buy.

M: What about the Activist Bake Sale?
LL: Das activist bake sale will be sehr tasty indeed-from gingersnaps to brownies und white chocolate “mah.” The active part auf it is das the money raised will go to support ein group in Montreal das helps political prisoners. Propaganda vill be available for those who are interested in carob squares und Che.

M: In the past, you’ve wowed audiences with an exciting variety of hosen, including frozen-hosen and astro-hosen. What are you hosing up for this party?
LL: If you vant ein taste auf mein neue Lucilautfitten, take ein look at the posters fur das event-hee hee! Oh! Und everyone that comes to das Soiro Bizarro gets ein ticket for das truly bizarre raffle that we vill have around midnacht. Can’t wait to hose, snack, craft, raffle und rock mit you all! :
