naw jpeg Fusing the cultures of his native Brazil and his adopted home in Canada, Marcio Melo’s work runs the gamut from Brazillian Candomblé saints to local wildlife “and everything in between.” Using spiritual imagery as an element, Melo depicts his subjects in a vivid and lively display. “I’ll never be defined by one colour; a colour is like a piece of a puzzle—it doesn’t work without the others.” Catch his upcoming exhibition, Bleu, rouge et vert égale, at the Sky Pub (1474 Ste-Catherine W.), June 28–Aug. 2, vernissage July 3, 5–7 p.m. :
