Sister act

naw jpeg While most people actively try to avoid sporting the same outfit as their companions (c’mon be honest, how much energy did you painstakingly invest in trying to ensure the individuality of your black sheath at the prom?) the duo of Carmen and Carole Bouchard decided to simultaneously “celebrate their sisterly bonds” and stage an investigation into the murky pools of identity by taking a trip during which they’d wear nothing but matching duds. Romping around L.A. like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (although presumably without the chauffeurs and chaperones) the Siamese siblings used this exercise in sameness as a way of exploring individuality, identity and the fashion industry. After all, how are you supposed to separate your true self from someone who’s wearing the very same ensemble? Photographs of the pair’s experience and the clothes in question are on display as Twins at Zeke’s Gallery (3955 St-Laurent) until July 14. :
