Boom town

A 38,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion on 2.4 acres of beachfront property in Florida may sound like a beautiful dream to some, but rather than throwing wild cocaine parties for starlets, its three owners are hoping to find someone to blow it up. Split between the three, the Delray Beach house is getting in the way of their plans to erect three smaller homes. Razing the mansion could cost up to $300,000 (U.S.), so the men advertised in Variety hoping to attract the attention of a film company that might want to blow the thing up for a movie.

Owner Eric Cherry says he’s received several calls from companies up to the task, but whoever makes the winning bid will have to blow the house up by year’s end so the three can stay on track with their construction plans. The trio will also have to obtain the necessary permits from the city. :
