Reward for Bar Ivoire witness

Fay Forbes is offering her $10,000 life savings to anybody who comes forward with testimony leading to a conviction of the murderer of her son Jason Forbes. He, along with Bernard Rodrigues was shot at the Bar Ivoire on Notre Dame in St-Henri last December 8. Although an estimated 50 patrons were present at the bar, none have come forward to identify the killer. “Two guys shot at close range in the corner and nobody’s seen nothing? Come on, gimme a break,” says Montreal Homicide boss Steve Roberts. “I can say from what the bar looks like inside, from where the shooting happened, I should have a minimum, a bare minimum, of 10 good witnesses to it. A lot of people saw something but nobody’s come forward,” he says.

Although the police have no official suspect, others have pointed out that the modus operandi used in the killings resembles that of the slaying of Rodrigues’s older brother Nicholas seven years earlier. Kushi Samuels, who is wanted for that murder, has been on the RCMP’s most wanted list since then but remains a fugitive. Roberts says that if posters of Samuels were put up throughout the city, law enforcement officers might be overwhelmed with calls that they can’t all respond to. “That’s the trouble with putting up a picture, everybody will think they saw him everywhere and we won’t have the personnel to check out all the tips.” Witnesses to the shootings are urged to call 280-2052. :
