Jazzy steps

Touted as America’s oldest modern dance repertory, New York City’s Limón Dance Company is finally returning to Montreal 22 years after their first visit, with their mixed program Limón and Jazz. Founded by Mexican dancer and choreographer José Limón, who passed away in 1972, the 14-member troupe presents an evening of jazz and dance. The program includes If Winter by Billy Siegenfeld, Étude, a solo work by Carla Maxwell, Cross Roads by Donald McKayle and Psalm, created by Limón himself in 1967 and recently restaged by Maxwell. The company performed these two works at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics this year. At the Théâtre Maisonneuve in Place des Arts (175 Ste-Catherine W.), April 11–13, 8 p.m., $25–56.
