SUV crackdown The reclassification of the gas-guzzling behemoths
as cars rather than trucksa move long overduewill have a
drastic effect on the reduction of smog, the federal Environment Minister
said this week. The move comes as the feds announced a wider crackdown
on other types of vehicles and engines as well. Environment Minister
David Anderson said that as new fuel becomes available in about four
years, the reclassification will reduce smog-causing emissions from
SUVs by as much as 95 per cent. While Le Pens star has faded recently due to infighting within his Front Nationale, he nevertheless received three over the minimum 500 signatures from elected officials to appear on the ballot. Le Pen had been loudly claiming to anyone who listened that a plot was afoot to keep him off the ballot. The first round of voting begins on April 21. |
