If you can’t find the time to go to the galleries these days, Lorraine Oades brings eight Web sites made by artists to your computer screen. Science Fair: Feminist Configurations in Cyberspace features original work by Ingrid Bachman, Nicole Jolicoeur, Marie-Josée Lafortune, Valérie Lamontagne, Barbara Layne, Lynne Marsh, Barbara McGill Balfour and Stephanie Shepherd.

To accompany the work, Oades and Philippe Blanchard developed an historical timeline, loosely chronicling the involvement of women in science and technology from 4000 B.C. to the present day. Like the science fairs of our youth, the participants involved cover a real mixed-bag of themes: ranging from Bachman’s investigation of information dissemination through the exploration of the terrarium of her pet hermit crab, to Marsh’s journey into unknown territory on the surface of a moon of Saturn.
