Angel >> Project 10 Next week, the organization for young gays, lesbians and bisexuals celebrates its 10th anniversary. Initially created as a pilot project support group, Project 10 has expanded to include individual counselling, a phone-line, a drop-in centre and a summer camp. Last year it served as support an estimated 230 young people. It now enjoys wide recognition within the gay and lesbian community, in schools and with health and social services. The anniversary coincides with the launching of their Web site (www.p10.qc.ca), and will take place on Thursday, April 4 at the Complexe Bourbon, 1560 Ste-Catherine E. at 4 p.m.

Insect >> Failed U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Robert Bork In Toronto plugging his new book this week, the controversial conservative judge slammed Canadian judicial activism, lamenting the fact that judges here have the power to override legislation that should be honoured in their “original intent.” Thus, challenging legislation that bars benefits for same-sex couples is a bad thing, as is contesting dismissal based on sexual orientation. According to Bork, the new generation of what he calls the “elite, intellectual class” of judges are ruining the concept of self-governance and are imposing on the electorate their own ideas of virtue.
