Kop a feel

“Since it’s the beginning of spring, it’s a mating ritual of sorts—not necessarily of a sexual nature but of creativity, the synthesis of visual arts and music.” So says organizer Frederick Hryszyn of this weekend’s Kopulation Multimedia Art Manifestation. The latest such event put together by the talented and troublesome Kops urban art squad retains the angle of optic/sonic clash—it’s just triple-X explicit this time.

Music’s by Rhythm Mercenaries, Memo, Patrick Bateman, Who-See & Abra, Maysr, Naes & Jabber, Krinjah and Rob Brown, while the visual arts goes beyond straight-up painting. “There’s installation art, goddess figures, metal sculptures of birds in flight—everyone expanding on the mating-dance theme.” Kopulation goes down at the Roy Street Collective (111 Roy E.), Friday, March 22, 10 p.m., $15. :
