In the mix

In keeping with the general gist of pop culture’s splintered climate, Du Métissage comme expérience, Phase II brings together six artists to highlight the state of hybridization in contemporary art. Curated by art historian Manon Tourigny, the show explores the increasing interconnectedness of different visual art mediums, including computers, while offering glimpses at new works by artists making names for themselves in this province.
Gwenaël Bélanger’s quirky, layered works incorporate animation, Yan Breuleux’s interactive installation is also on the Web, Jean-François Gauthier experiments with geometry, Isabelle Hayeur creates desolate, photographic landscapes, Rafael Sottolichio’s blurry photos capture movement in time and Myriam Yates’ diptych photographic juxtopositions question the appropriation of images. Definitely worth a peek. At the Maison de la culture Frontenac (2550 Ontario E.) until April 14. Info: 872-7882. :
