Head trip
Using only video projections of 12 heads, Musée dart contemporain
(185 Ste-Catherine W.) artist-in-residence Denis Marleau presents what
hes calling a fantasmagorie technologique in the form
of Les Aveugles, a play written in 1890 by Belgian author Maurice Maeterlinck.
Floating stationary in black space, the disembodied faces speak together
and listen to the sounds that surround them. They are all blind and
afraid to move, as they are lost in unfamiliar woods. That the actors
are no longer present in Marleaus interpretation is a perfect
continuum of the ideas of Maeterlinck, who over 100 years ago was exploring
the idea of actorless theatre. Les Aveugles shows at the MAC through
March 24, 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily, $1012. Youll definitely
need reservations, so call Admission (790-1245) to book tickets in advance.
