Myth and movement

Choreographer and dancer Guylaine Savoie takes the Greek myth of Medusa and her petrifying gaze and weaves it into her most recent solo show Méduse ou la tête de la Gorgô, which is part of the Majors series at Espace Tangente (840 Cherrier) this week. Using a video by Georges Léonard, Savoie whisks us away to another world, exploring different natures of the gaze, whether it be inward or outward.
Also sharing the evening is Savoie’s Le Portrait, a tranquil solo where this former member of Brouhaha Danse and Carbone 14 discovers a dusty self-portrait of a woman with an uncanny resemblance to herself. What follows is an ethereal duet between Savoie and projections of her mysterious double. The two pieces show at Espace Tangente this Thursday–Sunday, Feb. 28–Mar. 3, 8:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m. on Sunday), $13–15. Call 525-1500 for tix and info. :
