Techno: This is incredible. Some guy took three old hard drives, varying in size from a modern tiny one to an enormous old-school unit that resembles a 1200 MK2, and hooked them up to an amp—and got them to produce sound. Not just any sound. The platters and heads of the drives act as speakers, with tweeter, mid and sub. There’s video of this ersatz speaker system in action, playing everything from porno music to the Star Wars theme. Amazingly, not only does it work, but it sounds pretty damn good. Dance to the music at www.andrew.cmu.edu/~hsakr/hdspeakers/hdspeakers.htm.

Clean lines: Fans of graphic novels—basically long form comic books—have a great resource in ArtBomb, the premier review site for this unique literary genre. The diametric opposite of a fanboy site, ArtBomb has industry news, smart interviews with authors and trustworthy reviews. But best of all, it makes it easy to actually get the comics. Get your read on at www.artbomb.net. :
