Let your Fringe flag fly

Those jonesing for a little Fringe Festival-style calamity need not wait till summer for their fix. Though this month’s one-person-show festival SoloFest has sadly been cancelled, Fringe organizers have put together a couple of events this weekend to keep your indie-theatre yen satisfied. And what’s more, they’re fundraisers for this year’s festival, with both shows under the catchy umbrella title Fringe Benefits.

First up is a reprise of Isabelle Gaumont’s popular Gaumontville from last year’s Fringe, a solo show featuring the politically incorrect inhabitants of the eponymous city. Hamilton, Ontario improv comedy troupe The Imponderables, also vets of the last Fringe, take the stage next, promising some wild laffs, Steeltown-style. Both shows play at the Geordie Space (4001 Berri) through Saturday, Feb. 23. They’re $15 each or $25 for the pair (or $12 and $20 for students and seniors); for tix and times call the Fringe hotline, 849-FEST. :
