>> Let’s give a hand to the Black Hand

by JOHNSON CUMMINS

It seems that the Montreal bands who are making the most noise this year are doing it everywhere but here. Local hardcore band the Black Hand have already completed a two-month tour of the States, based soley on the sales of their demo, which are at 3,000 and climbing. With these impressive numbers, it couldn’t take long for the indie punk/metal labels to come a-courtin’.
“We played in Philadelphia,” says singer Radwan Moumneh, “and the staff from Relapse Records came down and were interested in doing something with the band. But we aren’t really metalheads—we’re more interested in dealing with labels that are the same size as the band.” With a two-month tour of Europe coming up in April and a new record being recorded in January it seems that 2002 should be a busy year for the Black Hand. :
