>> Lys Stevens devises data for dancers

by SARAH MUSGRAVE

Montreal as a dance Mecca will soon be much easier to navigate for aspiring dancers and choreographers. Due out in early spring, a handy how-to guide by Studio 303’s Lys Stevens provides info on venues and festivals, hints for production managers and the nitty-gritty on getting publicity and financing.
She got the idea while organizing an independent show for a friend. “I thought I could really use a resource book to help me figure it all out,” she recalls. Thanks to a grant from Jeunes Volontaires, graduates of the city’s many dance programs and those who flock here to launch careers will have just that.
“People think of art as just creation and inspiration,” Stevens says, “but there’s a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into a project. This book aims to give that part value.” :
