>> Author Dana Bath piles on the work

by VINCENT TINGUELY

2001 has been a bumper year for Dana Bath. Her stories have appeared in the anthologies You and Your Bright Ideas and Ribsauce; in October she filled Nantha’s Cuisine to overflowing for the launch of Plenty of Harm in God, her first novel. According to Bath, “I knew I wanted to be a writer from the time I was really small. I used to have a space in my cupboard where I’d keep these piles of manuscripts.”
She challenges herself by entering the Anvil Press Annual International Three Day Novel Writing Contest every Labour Day weekend. “If something turns out to be unreadable, I just chuck it,” she says. Far from unreadable, her ’98 effort won third place, and in ’99 she took second prize. She’s currently putting together a collection of fiction that includes these pieces, and a second novel is in the germinal stage. :
