Tommy Guerrero Junk Collector (Mo'Wax/Select) Skate hero turned bedsit maestro Guerrero on some solo, soul-funk shit. Very Mo'Wax--Money Mark fans will dig this. 8.5/10 (RB)

Sonny Stitt & Don Patterson The Boss Men (Prestige/Universal) Great vintage '60s material by a sax/organ/drum trio of the first rank. 8 (LD)

The B-Sides Yes Indeed, the B-Sides, Quite (Skunk-Ape) Emotions run high as indie pop pranksters spew light-hearted harmonies and neat riffs. 8 (LC)

Tinstar Dirtybird (V2/BMG) It's rock 'n' roll you can dance to! Guitars meet gospel, groove and full-on club beats on this dynamic sophomore joint. 7.5 (LC)

Vangelis Mythodea (Music for the NASA Mission: 2001 Mars Odyssey) (Sony Classical) More like myth-odious. Vangelis has done some great work, but this empty, overblown effort doesn't rank. 3 (RB)
