Reverb in quadrichrome

by Rupert Bottenberg

June 8, 1965 was the day that Quebec's pioneers of surf rock, les Jaguars, originally called it quits. Auspiciously, it was also the birthday of Montreal cartoonist Grégoire Bouchard, who would go on to write and draw Planet Twist, a comic book docudrama about the band. Part historical document, part retro-futuristic meta-gag, Planet Twist is a first-rate comix oeuvre, and it's being launched tonight, Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at Fichtre (436 de Bienville).

Those with a nastier, underground streak will hold out for the launch of Eric Braün's horrifying and hilarious self-published tome Serial Killer at l'Escogriffe, 4467A St-Denis on Monday, Oct. 1, 5 p.m. (guest band les Breastfeeders play at 10 p.m.).
