Close to 100 police officers are also missing, presumed dead. Dying in the line of duty, these underpaid, under-appreciated civil servants were at the disaster scene looking for trapped office workers while the rest of the world sat glued to their televisions, too stunned to think. Undoubtedly, they saved lives, at the expense of their own. The debt owed is tremendous.

Insect >> Hate-filled finger-pointing Not two hours after the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center, the networks were naming Osama bin Laden, America's name for terrorism, as the main culprit behind the deed. He may well be. Nevertheless, let cooler heads prevail before the full fury of the American armed forces is unleashed on the Muslim world. If we make no distinction between those who perpetrated the act and those who haven't, and give in to race hatred, the terrorists will be one step closer to winning.
